As you know, last week, I set myself some goals. The first was to finish off the week of slow- which I completed and can feel the benefit of. The second was to try the name spelling challenge. It was such a good challenge and really enjoyed it. I believe it was around 4 miles and I enjoyed every mile. This is a challenge that I would suggest to anyone, it was just great to run for fun and I’m glad that I’ve inspired some to do it. Please let me know if you do it. Thirdly I set myself the challenge of competing in the Together As One Virtual Run powered by Hybrid Running. I completed it and even hit a mile PB but I was still unhappy. When I set a goal of under 7 minutes I am to hit it. This can be seen as a bad mindset but I know where I went wrong. NEVER BUILD A HILL INTO YOUR ROUTE.
So what did I do the rest of the week? If you saw my Instagram or Strava you would know that I built some strength in zero drop shoes on a field, that was rolling, on Thursday. It was short (1.5 miles) but I feel the benefit and didn’t do anything stupid. On Friday I went waterfall hunting with my family, my phone said it was around 9k. I really enjoyed it but it is tough on the legs- all uphill! Side note I’ve also ordered some new shoes- Altra Provision 4.
Besides from running, I’ve been working hard on the Hybrid Running website and race. We’ve recently brought out a YouTube channel– I would love it if you subscribed- and have new interviews coming. Also, this was the holidays from studying and for once I’ve finally rested. Need to get rid of my burnout. Next week it starts again so I must be focused.
Speaking of next week what are my goals?
I have many, the first being to complete a 2-mile virtual race. The second to enjoy my running and third to keep stretching off my aches and pains, which are fading but I can still feel in my groin, knees and thighs. This is my plan: flexible but focused.
I hope you all have a good week and let me know what you’re up to!
